Presenting himself to the sultan, who was suzerain of Cyprus, Jacques complained that, though next male heir to the throne, he had been driven from the island, and appealed successfully for help to recover his inheritance.
Queen Charlotte with her husband fled to Rome, where she died in 1487 after bequeathing her sovereignty to the house of Savoy.

From reading the diary posted on Hatherley's website, it appears this is their first proper appearance as a band, but it's certainly not apparent as they collectively attack the new songs with verve and spirit, clearly keen to revel in these gloriously idiosyncratic melodies.

If you are on a limited budget in Cyprus there are some good places to stay and food is cheap and delicious, certainly booze and cigarettes are not expensive, so enjoy.
It is the oldest monastery in Cyprus (see history) and I am sure it's very interesting but am unlikely to find out as ladies are not allowed in the monastery itself so be warned, I was not, and have now seen the view.(which is rather splendid)
The church, one of the finest examples of Byzantine architecture in Cyprus, was faithfully restored in the 17th century, Visitors can see the tomb of Saint Lazarus under the sanctuary and an ecclesiastical museum behind the church.
