Charon   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
CHARON is another proof of the all-Finnish phenomenon when in a small village five people of the same age and with similar interests find each other and suddenly realize that all together they can make good and rather original music.
The band was hoping that signing it would help them with the necessary promotion worldwide and complied with the unfair conditions.
CHARON received a warm welcome in the countries where (thanks to HIM) people were used to good Finnish heavy music.

Charon (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Despite their death metal beginnings, the Finnish band Charon play goth rock-influenced metal nowadays, and rely on a combination of melody and atmosphere to deliver their own melancholic brand of music.
After touring with two of Europe's most popular symphonic metal bands Nightwish and After Forever, in 2002, Charon scored two more chart successes in their homeland with their 2003 singles "In Trust of No One" (#1) and "Religious/Delicious" (#8).
Both of these songs feature on Charon's album "The Dying Daylights", which was released in autumn 2003 and managed a #16 position on the Finnish album chart.

MUSIC INTERVIEW - The Groaning : Legends Magazine, Issue 152
Until now, Charon is the only one I told this story to, but we initially had no intention of sticking around; we were just looking for something to do before our new project came together.
Charon: The band's repertoire has an improv quality that I tend to liken to “jam bands,” hence the term.
Charon: When we finally got the master copy of our CD, for the first few moments, I held it like it was precious metal: I couldn't believe that almost 7 months of our lives, my life, was contained in two little discs.

 CHARON Astrometry software: users manual
When you use Charon with Ax.0, it looks at the photometric band selected, and will use the B or R mags, or infer V mags, should you have one of those three bands selected.
This causes Charon to center on the computed object position (as marked by the red crosshairs); the target object should be close by, with a red circle on it.
I'm occasionally asked about the mathematics underlying Charon, both by people interested in working on their own astrometry software and by potential Charon users wanting to make sure that the software is indeed doing what it ought to do (that is, using standard methods of astrometry to achieve the highest possible accuracy).

 Charon - Teemu interview
But when they've released their first album "Sorrowburn" in 1998 it became clear Charon will crystallize themselves into one of the most perspective bands aligned in gothic rock/metal category.
This is why isn't surprise Charon is today, with five released albums, one of the most known bands from Finland.
Charon is something smooth yet sharp edged, atmospheric blight in the joys of solitude, balanced between extremities.

Finland´s mellow-sounding metallers Charon is one of those bands that could be counted to that category.
Charon´s 4th full-length album in order, is yet again kind of a rather ´giant step´ away from the band´s last effort, only now having some stripped down reminders of those band influences of which I mentioned recently as far as their two previous albums, namely TEARSTAINED and DOWNHEARTED are concerned.
As for single personalities in Charon, the band´s charismatic vocalist J-P is without doubts a very strong force behind Charon´s powerful tendency to gather legions of mournful followers for the band´s always so highly melancholic and addictive Gothic Rock/Metal sound.

As for technicality, well, "Downhearted" doesn’t have many cards too play with there, instead of sounding like an educated institution of high level techniques, the members strive to complement each other and write on a very simple level when it comes to structure, which also brings the best out of the songs and themselves.
Most of the songs are backed up with wonderful female vocals from the mysterious sidekick Jenny Heinonen who also helped the band out on their last album.
Experimentation is necessary for a band that wants to develop, you’ll hear some drum loops, electronics etc. etc.

The band was formed by Sentenced singer Ville Laihiala in 2000, as he wished to pursue interests outside his main band (and, as well, play guitar).
He recruited vocalist J.P. Leppäluoto from another Finnish goth band (Charon), and released Escapextacy which ranks with the best of Finnish goth albums, reminiscient of bands such as Entwine or For My Pain...
Leppäluoto later decided he needed to devote his full time to Charon, but Laihiala has since put together a proper full-time band, with their second release, Lust Stained Despair, coming out in the summer of 2006.

 Wolfheart biography @ Tartareandesire.com
The reason why Jasse formed WOLFHEART was that he had an urge to play aggressive and melodic death metal again (Charon used to play that style) and wanted to start signing again, as he used to do in Charon.
Shortly after the bandname was changed to WOLFHEART and the band began preparing themselves for the recording of their debut album.
WOLFHEART is however a very individual sounding band and when listening to songs like "Nightburnt", "The Wilds" or "The Hand Of The Moon" you can almost feel the cold breath from the Northern parts of Finland.
