 | | The Township Board of the Charter Township of Meridian finds that wetlands are indispensable and fragile natural resources that provide many public benefits, including maintenance of water quality through nutrient cycling and sediment trapping as well as flood and storm water runoff control through temporary water storage, slow release, and groundwater recharge. |
 | | Preservation of the remaining Township wetlands in a natural condition shall be and is necessary to maintain hydrological, economic, recreational, and aesthetic natural resource values for existing and future residents of the Charter Township of Meridian, and therefore the Township Board declares a policy of no net loss of wetlands. |
 | | The Township Wetland Consultant's report shall be forwarded to the Township Board, which shall determine whether a wetland use permit application meeting the requirements of Section 105-10 of this Chapter shall be required, based on a finding that the wetland is essential to the preservation of the natural resources of the Township. |
