The CIB (Malta) saw its inception on the 16th December 1959, initially named the Malta Institute of Bank Officials.
Following the changes which had taken place in the Institute’s examination as a result of the Wilde Report, it was possible to adopt the proposal to conduct Stage 1 locally using local examinations and qualifications where appropriate, as a substitute for its UK ones.
This statute was approved by the 1999 Annual General Meeting and by the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London.
