Chasewater Railway is a former colliery railway running round the shores of Chasewater in Staffordshire, England.
The railway is home to a collection of steam and diesel locomotives of mostly industrial origin.

 Chasewater - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chasewater is a 3 km² reservoir between Brownhills, Norton Canes and Burntwood, in Staffordshire, England.
Legislation to close the canal was enacted in 1954.
Brownhills Urban District Council purchased Norton Pool in 1956 for £5,600 which was for a total area of 272 acres (1 km²) and 2 cottages, from the British Transport Commission and renamed it Chasewater.

 Locomotives on minor railways
The railway was opened in 1891 to serve part of the Yorkshire coalfield, south of Leeds/north of Wakefield between Lofthouse and Stourton, serving Robin Hood.
The railway was absorbed by the LMS, but passenger serives were withdrawn on 30 March 1930, the section between Pilling and Knott End closed on 13 November 1950, and the line was closed completely on 31 July 1963.

Chasewater Railway is a charitable trust, No 518516 and the whole of the railway is operated by volunteers; any profit made is entirely devoted to the maintenance of the locomotives, carriages and track.
New volunteers are always welcome, simply introduce yourself any Sunday to members working on the railway and they will be able to answer your questions about opportunities to help.
All members are welcome to participate in the many aspects of running the Railway, for which full training will be given.

 Anglesey Basin & Chasewater at Brownhills
The Cannock reservoir (now known as Chasewater) was constructed in 1799 and was opened around about 1800 to supply the Wyrley and Essington main line with water via the Anglesey branch canal.
The railway was founded in 1959 as the Railway Preservation Society (West Midlands).
Part of the line was originally constructed as the Cannock Chase and Wolverhampton Railway, and eventually passed into the hands of the National Coal Board, which ceased using the line in 1965.

The Chasewater Railway provides an ideal showcase for Community Light Rail, which can be used to bring back passenger services on disused railways or to replace heavily-subsidised trains on local and rural lines.
Although the railcar is currently based at Chasewater, once the necessary approvals are obtained it will be moved to the Network Rail branch line between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town, where it will enter public service on Sundays for a year-long trial.
The Chasewater Railway (www.chasewaterrailway.co.uk) is an independent heritage railway which operates steam and diesel train services on a former mineral railway, now within the boundaries of the Chasewater Country Park.
