Chassidut teaches that non-Jews should also meditate on those truths and depths of reality of Divine Providence in the world that will arouse their hearts to serve the One God of Israel.
Chassidut expresses Kabbalah in a way that is accessible to every soul and that excludes all possibility of misinterpretation.
Thus, if Kabbalah and Chassidut are studied for the sake of fulfilling "the duties of the heart," there is no difference between men and women, for these commandments are equally pertinent to all.

Chassidut in its nascent form was originated by a great Jew called the Baal Shem Tov some fifty years earlier to inject new enthusiasm into Judaism.
Crushing it up and mixing it with water is Chassidut and the Rebbe and his Chassidim are those trying to administer the mixture.
We must all make resolutions to learn Chassidut or at least become acquainted with it, to do more good, speak more good and think more good because each of us is a representative....a Shliach of the Rebbe to improve the entire world.

 Chassidut: Overview
This distinction is apparent even in the names attached to these two mystical traditions: The word Kabbalah in Hebrew is derived from the root kabal, "to serve as a receptacle or vessel," while the word Chassidut is constructed from the root chesed, "lovingkindness," an attribute often referred to symbolically as the light of day.
In the year 5494 [1734], he revealed himself as a Kabbalist and healer and proceeded to found a popular movement that was to reinvigorate the spiritual lives of Jews all across Eastern Europe.
This movement came to be known as Chassidut.

Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna
Known for fierce opposition to Chassidut, which was initiated in 1736 by the Baal Shem Tov, he and his followers in this anti-Chassidic Movement were known as "Mitnagdim," or opponents.
Their opposition was based on the beliefs, vigorously denied by Chassidic leaders, that Chassidut took liberties with the Oral Law, that it substituted emotion for intellect in the Study of Torah, that its form of prayer departed too far from the traditional form of prayer, etc.
The Vilna Gaon cleared a new path to Talmud study, focusing on gaining a clear understanding through keen analysis of the principals and approaches of the early authorities.

Chassidut relates to each individual Jew and his or her capabilities, teaching one to draw near Holiness and how to serve G-d with one's heart and mind.
With the advent of Chabad Chassidut, published works of Chassidut became widespread even to many who had not yet come in direct contact with a Rebbe.

Who Can Study Kabbalah and Chassidut?
ven though there is an opinion that one should not begin to study Kabbalah until the age of 40, the great masters of Kabbalah and Chassidut did not agree with this opinion.
ndeed, the study of the inner dimension of Torah--Kabbalah and Chassidut helps all people to fulfill the "duties of the heart"--the six constant commandments mandated by the Torah, which include the faith in God's Omnipresence and Providence over all, and love and awe of God.
hus, if Kabbalah and Chassidut are studied for the sake of fulfilling "the duties of the heart," there is no difference between men and women, for these commandments are equally pertinent to all.

Arutz Sheva - Israel National News
In comparing the beginnings of Chassidut and the beginnings of Conservative Judaism, the deviations of the former seem to be much greater than those of the latter.
Yet in spite of his best efforts, Chassidut was eventually accepted by mainstream Orthodoxy as something “glatt kosher.” Conservative Judaism, however, did not fare as well and was permanently excluded as outside the realm of acceptability.
In this case, it is my teacher Dr. David Berger who has taken the place of the Vilna Gaon, with seemingly as much justice as the Gaon's opposition to early Chassidut.
