Of Chaul, today are still visible: the ruins of the town-walls with his powerful ramparts, the ruins of the church "Matriz", the church and the convent of the Augustinian, the Franciscans church, the Misericordia, the Porta do Mar".

Chaul was part of Portuguese India's Northern Province, which by the mid 17th century extended for 100 km along the coast of present-day Maharashtra and Gujarat, from Chaul in the south to Daman in the north.

After Harihara II died the throne was in conflict between Virupaksha Raya, Bukka Raya II, and Deva Raya of which Deva Raya eventually would come out as victor.
