In 1938 major boundary changes occurred, at that time the Green Belt did not exist and major building developments were planned in the Chelsfield area which were halted by the 1939 - 1945 World War and were never further developed.
Although the population in the adjacent parishes has grown since the war, that of Chelsfield has remained low.

Beyond here the trackbed has also been built over but it is possible to see where the railway crossed Newington Road and Allenby Road, this being quite close to the present Ramsgate Station.
Soon after closure the section of trackbed from Westwood Industrial Estate to the present Ramsgate Station was used as the route of a high-voltage overhead electricity line to Ramsgate Power Station, situated in Princes Road, Ramsgate.
There is a road bridge, now closed to vehicles, over the railway cutting, which now diverges from Nash Road and runs towards the Westwood Industrial Estate where the course of the railway has been built over.
