		I was surprised, on entering the garden, to see a massive “trail” crossing the sky, North to South (or possibly the reverse).

		We can see a large trail to the right, it seems to stop, and then a small cloud directly in its path is split down the middle.
		I postulate that differing conditions are causing the gaps in visibility, but the chemical being sprayed appears to have a definate effect on the cloud it came into contact with.
		I expect that the reason the larger cloud to the left is not affected directly by the chem-spray is that the trail passes high above it.

		Due to the huge number of channels of haze across the sky, plus crosses/grids/H shapes/A shapes etc etc, and trails that switch on and off at will, I am guessing that the material either being sprayed OR injected into the water vapour trail is visible on radar due to its content.
		Also we often gets loads of trails even at 9PM when there is rain forecast for the night or the next day, even when it is very warm, dry and not humid.
		You should be aware that aircraft condensation trails cannot form in the upper troposphere if there is insufficient moisture there, which is the case 80-85% of the time over the British Isles.
