The famous Parthasarathi temple on the banks of the holy river Pamba, 8kms from Chengannur is dedicated to Lord Krishna attracts large number of devotees.
Chengannur railway station is the nearest station to reach Sabarimala.
12kms far from Chengannur, a mammoth religious convention of Christians,but attended by people belonging to all communities, is held at Maramon, near Kozencherry, every year on the vast sandy beds of the river Pamba.

Chengannur (in Kochi - Kottayam - Thiruvananthapuram route) is the gateway town to Aranmula and is just 11kms from the centre.
And between Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram there are many trains which go via Kottayam, stopping at Chengannur.
For all the long distance travels (Mumbai to Kochi or Chennai to Chengannur, or any travel with an over night stay), it is advisable to reserve your seat and birth, For most trains reservations are open before 60 days of the travel date.
