Cher has had three careers that place her indelibly in the public consciousness, and two have been in association with her then-husband, composer/producer/singer Salvatore "Sonny" Bono (February 16, 1935-January 8, 1998).
Cher's solo career ended up slightly overshadowed by her work with Sonny & Cher, but at the time she was fully competitive on her own terms -- her first LP reached the Billboard Top 20 and was on the albums charts for six months.
Cher's solo career at Imperial, which had created some political problems for the couple at Atlantic, ended with the lapsing of her contract in 1967, and she moved to Atlantic.

We left the Chateau de la Menaudiere with a 3 km descent (that we had climbed so arduously yesterday when we arrived), with approximately 42 km remaining and temperatures promising to be once again over 100.
The Chateau is unusual in that it spans the Cher river, with a marvelous gallery or hallway that runs the width of the river.
We left around 1 (a bit late since the heat was building), and took again a steep climb away from the river.

 Chenonceau
In 1431, Jean II of Marks paid homage to King Charles VII for the return of Chenonceau which had been seized from his father Jean I. He was granted the authorization to rebuild the manor in 1432.
In 1433, he rebuilt the manor "faithful to its original layout" (a rectangular four-towered block with steeply pitched roofs) and a fortified communal mill built on piers across the Cher river.
In 1556 she enlarged Chenonceau by building a five arch bridge over the Cher river; Philibert de l'Orme, a famous French designer, "had the brilliant idea of linking this garden, via the Château and a long gallery, to a new garden on the south side of the river."
