	1879 Menard & Mason Counties--Allen's Grove Township
		This division is on the eastern line of the county, and is known as Township 21 and 22 north, Range 5 west of the Third Principal Meridian.
		In establishing the boundaries of the townships, the southern tier of sections of Town 21, Range 5, was included in Mason City Township, and the southern tier of Town 22, same range, was made the northern limit of Allen's Grove Township.
		The position of the township is north of Mason City Township, east of Pennsylvania Township, south of Tazewell County and west of Logan County.

		Was born in Pennsylvania in 1828, and at an early age was taken by his parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Krysher, to Knox county, Ohio, where he continued to reside until the year 1850, and in the fall of that year he came to this county and settled where he now resides.
		Was born in 1823, in the State of Pennsylvania, and at the age of sixteen his parents moved to Knox county, Ohio; there he grew to manhood a farmer, residing in that county until 1847, when he moved to Montgomery county, Indiana, remaining there for three years.
		He came to this township on the 12th day of March, 1860, and settled on his present farm, embracing 600 acres, 520 of which are improved, the balance being timber.

		The most astonishing oil development ever witnessed in Pennsylvania commenced with the Jamestown Oil Co.’s well, called the "Mystery" from the precautions successfully taken to conceal its first yield from the public until May 18,1882, when the plug was removed and 1100 bbls.

		In both Rarey’s Port and Wert’s Grove, the end of each street and alley that touched the canal was the site for a business of some sort: there were dry docks, warehouses, tanneries, saw mills, brick and tile factories, flour mills and meat packing concerns.
		The building was completed in the spring of 1876, with the cost being apportioned to the township, the village and the two lodges, in amounts based on the architect’s estimate of that part to be used by each of the participants.
		The village government outgrew the municipal building on Cherry Street and in 1992 plans were made for a new municipal building.
