IndieMonkey: The Sheila Divine - New Parade
New Parade is an album that improves with each airing, the complexity of the songs best appreciated with familiarity, although the likes of "Hum", "Like a Criminal" and "I’m a Believer" are strong enough to be able to sell the band musically with their first hearing.
The production is remarkable good, and Roadrunner Records, a label normally associated with Thrash Metal, are putting their total marketing might behind this band, from the ground up.
They gained a record deal by slipping their demo into the tape player at a party held at Cherrydisc Records, who went on to be swallowed up by Roadrunner Records.

At that time she was in the process of recording her debut EP, The Liverpool Sessions, released on Boston label CherryDisc.

It's been two years since CherryDisc (R.I.P.) released Downsizing the American Dream, and while that album, in my opinion, wasn't on par with Plant A Tree or Die or the classic A Lot to Fear (both long out of print), Tree has been silent for far too long.
is a greatest hits record, including bonus tracks of alternate studio versions not included in the live set.
And while production is far from the over-the-top sound so common in heavy music these days, and while it is kinda flat and cardboardy, it's pure and honest - the sound of the band playing in your friend's living room for a couple bucks and a place to sleep for the night.

A pop-punk singer-songwriter signed by Island Records in the mid-90s, Bonham made her debut in 1996 with The Burdens Of Being Upright.
Bonham took nearly five years to complete the recording of her second album, Down Here, released at the start of 2000.
Surprisingly, the album was a commercial failure and the muted reaction from her record company for plans for a third album precipitated Bonham's departure from Island.

With a forthcoming LP on Virgin Records and an impressive string of live appearances with the likes of Manic Street Preachers and Iggy Pop, it seems that The New Rising Sons are well on their way.
But the record itself has two songs on each side that each have their own separate groove, so after playing the first song on side A, the record ends and you have to keep setting the needle down to try to find the second groove for the second song.
Recorded with the assistance of a whole host of characters (including members of Marmoset and United States 3), June’s songs are now able to amble and breathe before they settle on the floor.

It's a record that fires back at the most recent British Invasion using blood-warm lyrics and challenging musical arrangements rooted in strong, hook-flaunting pop melodies.
That project led to a deal in late 1997 with Roadrunner Records, a label The Sheila Divine left not long after the 1999 release of New Parade.'' The fit was not a comfortable one between the band and a record label that specializes in heavy metal.
Although The Sheila Divine may have to work twice as hard to get half as much attention as its peers on major record labels, Sears said the group is happy with the way things are going.
