On the basis of lithology, geochemical composition and structural position, the ultramafic rocks and their associated mafic volcanics and deep-marine sedimentary rocks are interpreted as ophiolites or ophiolite fragments derived from back-arc or oceanic crust that was located to the east of the Chersky Range.
Plutons from the main northwest-southeast trending axis of the Chersky range show no significant age variations along strike, however, there is a decrease in age across the belt from 142 Ma in the east to 135 Ma in the west.
The ages range from 132 Ma near the Adycha-Taryn fault and decrease westward to 124 Ma.

Baikal mountain country, mountains of the basin of the Baikal lake and Stanovoi range, is mostly oriented in northeast and latitudinal directions.
Altitudinal ranges of vegetation belts and forests in particular depend on many factors: geographical location and climate, average heights of mountain systems, exposition of macroslope, etc. While temperature is a major limiting factor in the north, amount of precipitation and air humidity limit distribution of forest altitudinal belts in the south.
In the central part, dominated by mountain systems of Vekhojansky and Chersky ranges, the top level is presented by stony deserts, which are replaced by mountain tundra downhill.

GPS observations confirmed that Siberia to the east of the Chersky Range belongs to the North American tectonic plate.
The pole of relative rotation of EUR and NAM determined from GPS (blue circle) differs from the geologically determined pole (green circle), probably because of reorganization of the plate motion within the last 3 million years.
By looking for very small changes in relation to one another and to the stable interior of both plates, the team was able to determine that the boundary of the Eurasian and North American Plates passes through the Cherskiy Range in Eastern Siberia.

The main results of this Conference include, first, the establishment of professional contacts between specialists from many countries, primarily Russia, U.S., Canada and Japan.
Second, the results obtained under come international joint projects with the involvement of researchers from Russia, U.S. and Canada, that embrace a broad spectrum of the Arctic geology ranging from paleogeographic and paleoclimatic reconstructions to the tectono-metallogenic generalization actually covering the entire northern Circumpacific, were the first time delivered at this Conference.
