As Scouters and users of Chesebrough Scout Reservation, some of you may be aware of the ongoing forest management program that the Council has been undergoing in conjunction with the Big Creek Lumber Company of Davenport.
Harvesting should be done approximately every 15 years to prevent the forest from closing in on itself and to slow the overlapping of tree crowns which limits the amount of sunlight and retards the growth of healthy trees.
It is hoped that Scouts and Scouters would assist in the replanting of one-two year-old trees following training by the forester in proper planting procedures.
