  Bloomingdale Township
The surface of the township is rolling, and originally was heavily timbered with pine, hemlock, maple, beach, whitewood, ash, and walnut.
The first settlement in the township was made in the month of December, 1837, by a Myers family, consisting of mother, four sons, and two daughters from Oneida County, N.Y. where their father had died in 1826.
In this township is a typical Michigan village, that of Bloomingdale, a little to the west of the geographical center, located on what was known as the South Haven branch of the Michigan Central railroad, but later of the New York Central.

The median income for a household in the township was $40,405, and the median income for a family was $46,250.

The township of Woodbridge, lying in the interior of the county, a little southwest of the centre, was formed from Fayette in 1840.
The entire township was covered, originally, with a heavy growth of timber, chiefly beech, maple, linn, poplar, fl and white ash, with considerable oak, hickory, and fl walnut.
The township has a total area of 19, 228 acres, of which 6000 acres are improved, and in 1874 contained a population of 1386 inhabitants, of whom a large majority are agriculturists.

The Cheshire railroad crosses the town in a diagonal from northwest to southeast.
The township was granted to the Masonian proprietors, January 15, 1752, to Roland Cotton and 41 others, and was known by the name of Monadnock No. 4.
Their works are also accomodated with side-tracks to the Cheshire railroad, and they give employment to about 75 men in the summer and 25 in the winter season, producing all kinds of rough and finished granite.

 Leslie Township Ingham County Michigan Early Settlement
Benjamin Davis, from Jefferson Co., N. Y., removed to Michigan in Octover, 1836, and remained in Wayne County until Jan. 1, 1837, when he settled with his family in the township of Leslie, Ingham Co., where he lived for thirty years, and died at the age of seventy.
Russell's brother-in-law, came to the township with the latter and settled in the same locality, and at present occupied the farm he then located.
Abbey Haynes, who, after the death of her husband, removed to Michigan from the town of Marcellus, Onondage Co., N. Y., with five children, and settled in the township of White Oak, Ingham Co. This was in 1838; one year later they removed to Onondaga township.

In the late 1940's the Trustees of Liberty Township, namely Edwin Jackson, Henry Schmehl, and C.B. "Hank" Marquette entered into a pact with trustees of Delaware, Berlin, Troy, Brown, and the north half of Liberty Township known as Liberty B for fire protection to form the Stratford Fire Department or Five Township Fire Department.
So in 1948 with only half a township, a bond issue was passed for $20,000.00 to purchase the first fire truck and a building to house it.
In March of 1952 Liberty Township firemen again were the leaders in the county by contacting other fire departments in an effort to organize a county fire association.

This Bucklin Township was named after a William Bucklin who was a fascinating man. He realized when the Erie cannel was being built that money could be made by the man owning land in Michigan Territory when settlers arrive there via the to-be-built cannel.
Charles Bucklin of that area of was the First Sergeant of Company F and was killed in action with the 24th Regiment at Gettysburg.
