Prees Heath Appeal: a part of the Shropshire Wildlife Trust Site   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
Shropshire Wildlife Trust launched the joint appeal with Butterfly Conservation and Cheshire Wildlife Trust in the summer to raise funds to turn a third of Prees Heath Common into a nature reserve and safeguard its colony of silver-studded blue butterflies, the last surviving one in the West Midlands.
Shropshire Wildlife Trust has agreed to assist in the establishment of the heath as a nature reserve, in restoring habitats and looking after the site in the future.
Cheshire Wildlife Trust is also lending its support to the appeal; Prees Heath lies very close to the boundary with Cheshire and is part of an ancient mosaic of heathland and bog habitats that once characterised the border area of these counties.
