		Chew Magna (grid reference ST575631) is a village within the Chew Valley in North East Somerset, England.
		Chew Magna is also the home of the "Go Zero" project which promotes education for sustainability at all levels in society, and it will seek to conserve and make improvements to the environment in the UK and overseas.
		Chew Court, which was originally a bishop's palace, next to the church which was largely rebuilt in 1656, from which a little survives as the Chew Court of today, which includes an Elizabethan doorway with Doric pilasters.

		Chew Magna is probably the principle village within the highly acclaimed Chew Valley which is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty located on the northern edge of the Mendip Hills.
		The famous 'Chew Valley Lakes' are virtually on its doorstep and are a haven for fishing and sailing.
		There are a number of villages and hamlets around the Chew Valley area of which Chew Magna is regarded as its focal point and it is hard to believe that one can be in such a relaxing rural environment yet be so close to the major cities of Bristol and Bath.

	River Chew - A brief history
		The name 'Chew' is believed to originate in France, with the 'ew' part of the name most likely derived from the French word 'eau', meaning water.
		The Chew Valley area is scattered with sites of antiquity such as the stone circles at Stanton Drew, the Wansdkye in the Compton Dando and Publow region and numerous sites of Roman occupation, including those at Keynsham and Chew Stoke.
		The river used to be navigable at numerous points from Chew Magna to Keynsham, with horse-drawn barges carrying coal from Chewton Keynsham to Bristol, a journey that reputedly took 5 hours, suggesting that at least one bank of the river was likely to be without trees.

		During the off-peak between the school runs it is envisaged a cluster of villages will be served in designated areas, concentrating roundly one day per week on each area, though patterns of demand may emerge that will permit some journeys/areas to be served on more than one day.
		The third minibus is destined to provide a similar service through the Chew Valley.
