Qi Qiao Jie (乞巧节, The Festival to Plead for Skills), sometimes called Chinese Valentine's Day, falls on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the Chinese calendar and thus is also known as Double Seven Day.
It is traditional for young girls to demonstrate their domestic arts on this day (especially melon carving) and to make wishes for a good husband.

If you don't think that developing chi is inline with TCC that's OK with me, but I believe that stronger chi can develop over time by practicing form, and that using Chi Gung, like ZZ, to increase one's chi can benefit Tai Chi Chuan, and is fully in line with it.
Chi is taken care of by proper structure and movement.

This lyrical love story is the inspiration for Chi Hsi, the Festival of the Milky Way in China, and Tanabata, the Weaving Loom Festival in Japan.
As in most foreign cultures, there was much to adjust to: raw fish for dinner, no shoes in the house, straw mats instead of carpet, of course the language, and the many festivals, to name just a few.
On July 7 of that year we went to a festival called Tanabata, celebrated in honor of an ancient story of the stars Vega and Altair, separated on either side of the Milky Way (in Japan, called the River of Stars).

In august of 2002 I was appointed by USAWKF (United States of America Wushu Kung Fu Federation) to be the head coach of the USA team competing in the International Tai Chi Festival held in Chen village, city of Jiao Zuo, which is regarded as the cradle of Chen style Tai Chi chuan.
When the Chen Tai Chi Research Society was formed in may of 1985 I was named the Vice Secretary.
However, if one is interested in the origin of Chen Tai Chi, one should realize that the so-called “new form” is not new at all.
