Laid down on a hill at the feet of mountains covered with conifers and eucalyptus, Chiaramonte Gulfi is the symbol of the landscape of the province of Ragusa which is the smallest but also the most varied one in Sicily.
One of the most famous experts in the history of this colony is Antonino Di Vita from Chiaramonte, member of the Accademia dei Lincei, and Chancellor of the Italian archaeological school in Athens.
Though Chiaramonte had surrendered asking to spare the life of children and women, a squad of soldiers slaughtered the inhabitants leaving an unforgettable mark in the collective memory.

 CHIARAMONTE

Center for Latin American Studies, UC Berkeley
Chiaramonte presented the idea that the concept of "nation," as we know it today, was the result of rather than a foundation for the movements for independence.
Having established this, Chiaramonte's next concern was to trace the origins of the notion of "reduced sovereignty." Here he pointed to the long overlooked importance and influence of natural law (derecho natural or Jusnaturalismo) in Latin America in the period preceding independence.
Chiaramonte proceeded to show the widespread knowledge of natural law in Latin America in the late colonial period, and particularly emphasized the importance of the works of Grotius, Pufendorf, Wolf, and especially Vattel.

Chiaramonte also alleges that prior to his termination, he was told by Debbie Lunn, a cost manager, that FBG was "going to get rid of all you old people." Lunn denies making that statement.
Chiaramonte disputes the characterization of his "retention" after the merger, claiming that this was not an affirmative act on Elting's part because his Dresher counterpart resigned after the merger and did not seek employment with FBG.
Chiaramonte cannot rely on events that occurred after his layoff to dispute that at the time of his termination cost was an appropriate justification.

Though Chiaramonte worked in what is known as an “unpaid internship,” she received money from Hamilton’s Joseph F. Anderson Internship Fund, given in honor of a 1944 Hamilton graduate who served the college for 18 years as vice president for communications and development.
Chiaramonte admitted that it was “tough” to adjust – she is from a small town and had never lived in a city before – but that she enjoyed exploring.
Chiaramonte recommended strongly that future applicants should contact Hamilton’s Maurice Horowitch Career Center but that they should expect to do hard work in finding their position themselves; “it’s a lot of work, and lot of responsibility” finding and applying for an internship.
