Chiba Lotte Marines' win against the Hanshin Tigers earned the team their first Japan Series win in 31 years.
Chiba Lotte Marines manager Bobby Valentine is tossed into the air by teammates after winning the Japan Series at Koshien Stadium in Nishinomiya, western Japan, Wednesday.
Lotte becomes the first team to sweep a Japan Series since 2002, when the Yomiuri Giants defeated the Seibu Lions.

Short told me that Chiba Marine Stadium is a difficult place to hit as the wind tends to blow in at a healthy speed.
Minchey's shutout tonight was welcome relief from the nightmare that the Marines went through at the Tokyo Dome this weekend, where they were swept in a 3-game series by the Fighters and gave up 42 runs.

The Marines are set for a second consecutive annual visit to Victoria in early 2007 as the Bobby Valentine lead team and support sqad will descend upon Geelong during the first two weeks of February to undertake the first stages of their Spring Training.
Despite missing the play-offs this year, Chiba finished strongly in the second half of their season and will be looking to improve in 2007.
Chiba is likely to take on an Australian outfit for two games in the February 12-14 period.
