The Chicago Bruisers were a charter member of the Arena Football League, playing in the four-team "demonstration season" of 1987.
They were an ougrowth of the Chicago Politicians, a team put together by Jim Foster to play an exhibition game to prove the feasibility of the sport the previous year.
The Bruisers, like the Pittsburgh Gladiators but unlike the other two charter teams, the Denver Dynamite and the Washington Commandos, returned to play in the 1988 season.

The Chicago Politicians were a team formed in 1986 by Arena Football League founder Jim Foster to play an initial "test game" in Rockford, Illinois versus the Rockford Metros.
The test must have been deemed successful, as a four-team "demonstration season" was held the next year, and Arena Football has been played every year since.
Some of the Politicians went on to play for the Chicago Bruisers and the other charter Arena teams, the Denver Dynamite, Pittsburgh Gladiators, and Washington Commandos.

The QB pairing is red hot and when your RBs are "The Bus" and Emmitt do you really need depth at wideout?
Chicago Bruisers - It is hard to second quess any team that went 10-3, won the Super Bowl and  kept the 3 head monster intact but last year the Bruisers still had some depth.  This year they are paper thin but I'd still like to have that paper on my team in any league.
Still, there is only so much players can do and if the injury bug hits you can flip that record upside down.
