University of Chicago: Cultural Policy Center
The University of Chicago’s Cultural Policy Center was established in 1999 with the goal of doing research in the cultural sector that parallels the research readily available in other sectors like education, health care, child welfare, and public finance – all areas in which the Harris School of Public Policy Studies specializes.
Because culture has, for the most part, been left to the marketplace and the philanthropic community rather than to governmental agencies, there is a dearth of research that would provide solid information and thoughtful, unbiased analysis for cultural advocates and policy makers.
The Center is currently supporting a number of research projects in these and related areas, using faculty and graduate students from many disciplines and departments.
