I cannot imagine anyone ever having a question about Chicago Soul to which the answer could not be found within its pages.
This does not appear to be true in America however as the publication is sponsored and published by the University of Illinois.
Quite rightly they believe soul music is a part of their history, their culture and their art and give it the serious treatment it deserves.

The baritone was born in Mississippi in 1938, and he moved to Chicago in 1959, where he found work as a valet for bluesman Freddie King.
