Harold's Chicken Shack - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Harold's Chicken Shack is a chain of fried chicken restaurants located primarily on the South Side of Chicago.
The basic Harold's Chicken Shack dinner is a half or quarter chicken served with french fries, two pieces of white bread, and a cup of cole slaw.
The one constant is the basic chicken dinners and the emblem of a cook chasing a chicken with a hatchet.

Chicken Shack - Biography - AOL Music
The frontperson of Chicken was not Perfect/McVie, but guitarist Stan Webb, who would excite British audiences by entering the crowds at performances, courtesy of his 100-meter-long guitar lead.
Chicken Shack was actually not far behind Mac in popularity in the late '60s, purveying a more traditional brand of Chicago blues, heavily influenced by Freddie King.
Stan Webb kept Chicken Shack going, with a revolving door of other musicians, all the way into the 1980s, though he briefly disbanded the group to join Savoy Brown for a while in the mid-'70s.

 Chicken Shack
ormed in 1967, Chicken Shack consisted of Stan Webb on guitar/vocal, Andy Sylvester on bass, Christine Perfect on vocals/keyboards, and Alan Morley on drums.
Fleetwood Mac had their initiation on the main stage but much was made of Chicken Shack's tented debut." The group became the second major signing of the Blue Horizon record label (co-founded by Mike Veron), the first being Fleetwood Mac.
Chicken Shack's first two albums,Forty Blue Fingers Freshly Packed and Ready to Serve and OK Ken?, were quite successful, with much of the credit due to the fact that they had a beautiful, talented, female keyboardist and vocalist-- something that most definitely added individuality to the group in the male-dominated late 60's music scene.

 Chicken Shack
Chicken Shack evolved from a Stourbridge based band called Sounds Of Blue who were performing in the West Midlands area by early 1964.
During the next year, Chicken Shack put out a few singles and a second album entitled OK Ken? but it was not until the release of the Etta James cover I'd Rather Go Blind in 1969 that the band had their first chart success.
The next few Chicken Shack albums met with less interest and in 1970 Stan Webb had a falling-out with Mike Vernon which resulted in the group being dropped by their record label.

Because soon to join the venerable Harold's Chicken Shack #62 on the same block of South Wabash between Harrison and Balbo...a franchise of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Founded in 1950 on the corner of 47th and Greenwood by self-proclaimed "chicken king" Harold Pierce, the local chain has grown to more than 60 fastidiously numbered chicken shacks, all but one (Wicker Park's #36) located on the south side of the city.
The chicken king's remarkably loyal fans put up with 15-minute waits (since each bird is custom fried), generally crummy digs, and for north siders, long trips across town, to savor the fried goodness contained on Harold's expansve menu.

Chicagoist: An Ode To Harold's Chicken Shack
Down in Nashville there’s an obsession with a dish called “hot chicken.” Legend has it that it started when the girlfriend of a man named Thornton Prince- a notorious womanizer- decided to exert payback on Prince’s whoring around by spiking his fried chicken with enough hot spices to fell an elephant.
And to think that Harold’s Chicken Shack was a product of necessity: Harold Pierce started his namesake chicken shacks more than fifty years ago because larger fast food chains avoided African American neighborhoods.
I've tried Harold's Chicken on 119th st, after waiting the customary 30 minutes for anything (even a pop) I patiently placed my money in the bulletproof lazy susan and they spun back a greasy bag, then I threw up on myself later that night.

 Chicken Shack
Originally formed in 1965, Chicken Shack started out as, more or less, a house band at the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany.
With the release of their debut album, 1968's Forty Blue Fingers Freshly Packed And Ready To Serve, and their 1969 follow up, O.K. Ken, Chicken Shack was in the forefront of the British Blues boom of the late 60's.
Through the 90's, Webb's Chicken Shack line up has remained pretty much intact as his devoted fans and fans of traditional British blues remain faithful.
