Faith Communities For Family and Children [ www.FC4FC.org ]
Children should not be separated from their brothers and sisters, friends, schools or communities, even though their parents are unable to care for them, unless this separation is necessary for their safety or the safety of the community.
Children whose parents cannot care for them should have the opportunity to have good education, quality health care, spiritual support and counseling to deal with their many losses.  Like all other children, they should have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Children and adolescents need educational structure and support to become positive functioning members of society.  Children and adolescents are particularly able to change and grow and are not always able to understand the consequences of their actions.

The faith of a new believer, whether he or she is five or fifty-five is a joy and a wonderful thing.
We do not have faith in the things we can see because they are a certainty and then we become lazy or distracted by the things of this world because we know we need not be ready until later.

Let those, then, who embrace the promise of mercy to their children, consider it as their duty to offer them to the Church, to be sealed with the symbol of mercy, and animate themselves to surer confidence, on seeing with the bodily eye the covenant of the Lord engraven on the bodies of their children.
On the other hand, children derive some benefit from their baptism, when, being ingrafted into the body of the church, they are made an object of greater interest to the other members.
They seem to think they produce their strongest reason for denying baptism to children, when they allege, that they are as yet unfit, from nonage, to understand the mystery which is there sealed, viz., spiritual regeneration, which is not applicable to earliest infancy.

Archived: How Faith Communities Support Children's Learning in Public Schools
Across the nation, excellent examples abound of the positive impact that faith communities have in encouraging and enabling families and communities to be involved in children's learning.
Faith communities often inspire their membership to volunteer in behalf of children, youth, and families in the nation's schools.
Members of faith communities can provide resources and encouragement to parents in their community, collect children's books to distribute to local families, be volunteers in an ongoing reading effort in the local community, connect to a public library's summer reading program, or begin a weekly family reading program held at the faith community's facility.

What the Educating Children in the Faith
Parents have an obligation to rear and educate their children but it is vital for them to ask the question, "What does it mean to educate a child?" From a worldly standpoint, it is undeniable that the criterion for education is how successful the children will be when they become adults.
Parents, therefore, are responsible for the moral and spiritual education of our children so that they can be as St. Augustine says "reborn to life" and become "children of God." Here we speak about the systematic development by parents, in their children, of the moral and spiritual life according to the mind of the Church.
In this case not only the children were taught the mysteries of their faith but the adults involved were given a way of evangelizing their own children and grandchildren.

Godly play and storytelling, from Faith at Home
After a story is presented, the children and the storyteller wonder together about aspects of the story that draw their interest.
After a time of exploring the story with wondering, the story is put away, the children choose the art supplies they would like to work with, and they spend some time creating whatever they choose, in response to what they feel is most important in the story, or most interesting.
Our faith stories are very powerful and offer plenty to think about even without our elaboration on what they "mean." Godly play is often deeply satisfying for the adults who engage the stories along with the children.
