		Chill Out is a travelogue: the listener is often treated to sounds of cars, trains, boats and planes; recurring sounds, samples and musical themes give the album a sense of place and space.
		Chill Out is an album I often go back to, and it always does wonders for me. I never listen to it as background music, but only with headphones, so that I can fully experience all of its details.
		Chill Out is not the most spectacular and immediately impressive of ambient albums, but giving up on it after one of two listens would be a grave mistake.

	The KLF
		The KLF (Kopyright Liberation Front), more recently known as the K Foundation, also known as The Timelords, furthermore known as The JAMs were one of the seminal bands around the time of the Acid House movement in Britain in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
		The album suffered major legal setbacks because of its use of ABBA's Dancing Queen, and Drummond and Cauty were sued and ordered to destroy all remaining copies of the offending record.
		KLF also performed a live version of the song, augmented by thrash punk rock band Extreme Noise Terror, at the 1992 Brit Awards ceremony.

		Chill Out is a seminal 1990 ambient house concept album by The KLF, portraying a mythical night-time journey up the U.S. Gulf Coast from Texas into Louisiana.
		Chill Out is a single continuous musical piece comprised of many distinctive parts, each of which either segues into or introduces the next.

		The general premise (I assumed) of the album was the concept of a night traveler in Texas and Louisiana who picks up various country, Mexican, blues and Bible-belt radio stations, over which the KLF added the typical nocturnal sounds you hear in the countryside (albeit with a few effects, some thunder and atmospheric synths).
		Yet despite the absence of danceable rhythms, this album over the years is one of very few that I think captures the ideology and essence of the early 1990s electronic music/rave years, not necessarily as an archive of club hits but more as musical analogy.
		Chill Out is not only the best ambient album ever made, it's also one of the best albums ever made.

		Hailed by those in the know as the French Kraftwerk, Hardcorps only released a few 12" singles and promos and this album in Vinyl and CD formats, all of which would be extremely hard to find now.
		The album consists of one long piece of ambient music which drifts in and out using unusual samples and effects.
		This must have been one of the biggest releases on the WARP label to date and spawned a host of copy cat releases and led to the outbreak of 'bleeps' and possibly the Network Label and acts such as Rhythmatic and early Altern8 in the UK.

	BBC - collective - KLF - Chill Out
		Repetitive themes such as someone ranting about "goin' down to Atlantic City, straight down the East Coast" and those bleating sheep (they're also on the cover) keep the album coherent as a whole, making it feel a bit like you're having a complicated idea patiently explained to you.
