Hellenic Football League Premier Division is the highest division in the Hellenic Football League, an English football league covering the Thames Valley area to the west of London.
From 2004-2005 it is at step 5 of the National League System, as a feeder to the Southern League Division One Midlands.
The league absorbed the Chiltonian League in 2000, and now has a Premier Division, the Hellenic Football League Division One East and Hellenic Football League Division One West.

In 1957, Henley Town was elected to the Hellenic League, where many successful years climaxed with the 1962/63 season by winning the Oxfordshire Cup and the Hellenic League Benevolent Cup, followed by the Division One championship.
The 1999/2000 season, which was to be the last of the Chiltonian League before the merger with the Hellenic League, saw Henley Town clinch the League Championship by a record margin of 14 points over nearest challengers Eton Wick.

The grading system for entry to the leagues was responsible for many anxious seasons at Chiltern as the system delayed a position of parity with other Senior Bucks clubs.
The 1990's will be remembered for the 1st XV's rise in League status and success in National and Alan Grimsdell Cups, initially due to the determination of 1st XV captain Mark Littlejohns who improved fitness to new levels but mainly due to the singular, resolute determination of player coach Alan Simmons.
The victory was comprehensively achieved against Olney 18-7 in the age of league and cup competitions.

Holmer Green were founder members of the new league, and in fact the 1st X 1 and Reserves dominated their respective divisions for the first three years.
The 1994/95 season, which turned out to be the Club's last in the Chiltonian League, saw even more trophies in the cabinet the 1st Xl finished as runners-up in the league but finally managed to win the Bon Accord Trophy for the first time.
Although denied permission to move by the Chiltonian League the Club spent the summer of 1995 in various FA tribunals and appeals, eventually winning their case as late as mid August 1995, and being accepted into the Senior Division of the South Midlands League.

Sadly for the 1999/00 season the league had lost so many clubs that inter divisional games had to be played.
In the past Brill United who progressed to the Chiltonian League plus at least six of the current Oxon Senior League clubs have played in the Lord Jersey Association.

In a gusty second half, actually the edge of a tremendous storm which caused extensive damage across the south of England, Steve Bird scored his first goal of the season for Lane in the 71st minute, cracking home the ball after it was only partially cleared from a corner.
Lane looked good for their 2-1 lead -- a complete reversal of the league result -- but had to be wary of their hosts on the break.

Finchampstead FC was founded in 1952 when the presentation of Finchampstead Memorial Park, a memorial ground in honour of those who served and died in the 1939-1945 war, made it possible for a village football team to be formed.
The team moved into the Chiltonian Football League in the 1987/88 season and finished as Reserve Division One runners-up, an honour achieved again in the 1989/90 season.
It finished the 2000/01 season as runners-up in the Hellenic Football League Reserve Division Two (East) and was beaten finalists in the Hellenic Football League Reserve Challenge Cup and the Maidenhead Norfolkians' Senior Cup.

The club entered the Hampshire League in 1961 and in 1963 were Division III champions with a victory in the very last game of the season.
In 1977 the Club entered the Athenian League but did not achieve great success and when the League was extended in 1984-1985, as the new ground requirements could not be met, Fleet moved into the Combined Counties for a time, followed by spells in both the Surrey Premier and Chiltonian Leagues.
The fire which totally destroyed the stand in the 1991-1992 season failed to dampen the enthusiasm which prevailed and for 1992-1993 a new complex was built to include a 200 seat capacity stand, a toilet block with facilities for the disabled, turnstiles, in-ground refreshment facilities and an ambulance bay.

The Isthmian League was founded in 1905 as the first competition for amateur teams in the London area, although its dominance in this role was challenged by the Spartan League and the Athenian League.
The Isthmian League was one of the few leagues to challenge the dominance of Northern League teams in the F.A. Amateur Cup: four IL clubs (Clapton, Dulwich Hamlet, Ilford, Leytonstone) had 9 semi-final appearances each, bettered only by the Northern League's Bishop Auckland.
Other leagues assigned to the Isthmian arm of the Pyramid are the Chiltonian League, the Hertfordshire County Senior League, the Surrey County League and the Middlesex County League.

The best season in the Chiltonian Football League was in 1986/1987 when they finished in second place.
In 1990, the Club applied for membership of the Combined Counties Football League and were accepted after being granted senior status by the Berks Bucks County Football Association.
The first two seasons were disastrous when they finished in bottom place on each occasion and only escaped relegation back to the Chiltonian Football League at the end of the second season due to the vacancy created by the departure of Steyning Town to the Sussex County Football League.

In an attempt to attract clubs from outside the county, the Surrey Senior League was renamed the Home Counties League in 1978-79.
In 1981-82 the league was split into East and West sections, with Ash United beating Malden Town in the play-off.
The Combined Counties league reached an agreement to become a feeder league for the Isthmian League, whilst at the bottom end of the league, arrangements had been made to accept clubs from the Surrey Premier at the expense of the bottom club.

With all due respect to league officials I would hope that they are aware of the “mutterings” about the £2,630 that was drawn in honorarium, in addition to expenses, last season.
Would the Wessex league be happy to accept a team that finished 2nd or third In the DPL or even promote an extra team from the second division.
The reason I say this is that the Hellenic league has experienced a merger with another league as at the end of the 1999/2000 season it merged with the Chiltonian League and a structure similar to the one suggested above was then created from 2000/2001.

As to the leagues bidding to run the new leagues why not, however sounds like curtains for the Essex and Kent leagues as even if they tied up with another league they would have a problem to produce a balanced step 6 league below which must be a crucial part of any proposed bid.
The third league to dissapear would be the NCE to help chage boundaries in the North/Midlands with the NWC taking the North West and the Northern League taking the North East.

The last season in the Senior League was 1984/85 and saw Nomads relegated to Division Two to ply their trade in what was a Reserve Division with Nomads being the only first team, they still only managed 7th place in a division of only 14 teams.
At the end of season 1993/94 the club were excluded from the Senior League for the 1994/95 season but were excepted into the superior Charrington Chiltonian League.
The 1994/95 season saw Nomads challenge for a promotion place in the First Division of the Charrington Chiltonian League and the club had a 100% away record until the start of December, the team eventually finished runners-up to Champions Denham United.

The Complete Music Hellenic League and the Cherry Red Records Chiltonian League are to merge for next season.
After several months of talks between the two leagues, the overwhelming majority of clubs were in favour of the merger, which has been approved by the National League System Committee of the FA.
Independent record label, Cherry Red Records, have sponsored the Chiltonian League for the last four years and sister music publishing company Complete Music have sponsored the Hellenic for the past three years.

This year the ladies will once again be playing in this league, but to give them a taste for the big time, it was also decided to enter the ladies into the FA cup, where we drew Reading in the first round.
We knew from the league that Reading play in, that they were going to be very tough opposition, but wound the ladies up to give it their best shot and to go out and enjoy themselves, stating "It is not every day that you get to play in the FA Cup"!
It was clear from the opening exchanges that Reading were going to live up to expectations with some very smart passing and some very solid tackles, but that did not phase Chinnor who raised their game to cope, to the extent that at half time we were 2-1 up.
