Chimaera (Star Wars) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Chimaera was part of the Imperial fleet that participated in the Battle of Endor.
Chimaera spent most of this time with Pellaeon aboard, personally investigating the unauthorized use of remaining cloned personnel by a group of pirates and attempted to seek a negotiated peace settlement with the New Republic, which by this time Pellaeon had become convinced the Empire could not defeat.
The Chimaera's status is currently unknown; as the Supreme Commander of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, Pellaeon's flagship is the Megador.

The Origins of the myth of The Chimera. By Ugo Bardi
According to Homer, the Chimaera was "in the fore part a lion, in the hinder a serpent, and in the middle a goat".
Graves also suggests that the Chimaera may be a representation of the prehistoric passage from a matriarchal society dominated by the Moon goddess to another one, dominated by sun kings.
So Tiamat, the Chimaera, perhaps Anzu, too, could be grotesquely deformed images of the ancient mother goddess, the one called at times Inanna in Sumer, Ishtar in Babylonia, Astarte in Phoenicia, Sekhmet or Isis in Egypt, Cybele in Anatolia, Durga or Kali in India (she who rides the tiger....).

According to the best accounts which I have been able to obtain, this Chimaera was nearly, if not quite, the ugliest and most poisonous creature, and the strangest and unaccountablest, and the hardest to fight with, and the most difficult to run away from, that ever came out of the earth's inside.

A distinctive feature of chimaeras is the presence of extra claspers in the male, one in front of each pelvic fin and a prominent one on the forehead.
