Welcome to Limericks Martial Art Centre
The uppercut (sometimes also referred to as the upper), is a punch used in boxing that usually aims at the opponents chin.
Classic defensive boxing stance is rather ineffective against leg kicks, and fighters are more or less forced to constantly move and counterattack, which is certainly one of the reasons why K-1 fights are seen by many as more dynamic and exciting than boxing fights.
Victories are usually achieved by hurting the opponent with kicks to the legs or the head, or using traditional boxing punches, such as the jab, cross or uppercut.

I'm not saying for you to spar someone you can always beat, because you need to be challenged, just don't spar with someone who is going to use you for a punching bag and knock you around the ring.
Many fighters when they begin boxing hold there breath during their fights.
For example, throw a jab to the stomach which will force your opponent to drop an arm to guard himself, then a quick jab to the forhead to knock his head back and pop his chin up.

David eye no matter what will always play a major factor in his fights, because as the fight grows long he has to tilt his head back and tuck his chin right out so he can see what's coming in, and that is a knockout waiting to happen.
As a boxing writer, I don't see how David Reid thinks at this point in his career, still not even over the trauma from his fight more than a year and a half ago with Felix Trinidad, that he can compete and be competitive at 168lbs with such murderous punchers in that weight division.
David took to Mitchell as a father figure, and the two hit it off as David soared through amateurs, and developed the skill and discipline that carried him enroute to a gold medal in Atlanta.

Uppercut - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The uppercut (sometimes also referred to as the upper), is a punch used in boxing that usually aims at the opponent's chin.
Uppercuts usually do more damage when landed to the chin, but they can also cause damage when thrown to the body (particularly the solar plexus) or when landing on the nose or eyes.
In a conventional boxing combination, it is the second punch thrown, after the jab, but it could either initiate or finish a combination.
