Picture Queensland Standard for Indexing Digital Images   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
One of the the most important aspects of digitisation, is to ensure that we describe material in such a way as to give our clients the best possible chance of finding the images that meet their information needs.
Clients cannot browse the physical photographs so their access is entirely dependent on the words that cataloguers and indexers use to describe the place or event represented in a photograph, its creator, the names of people portrayed, and when it was taken (if this information is known).
Picture Queensland does not want the risk of a poor quality product that will not meet our client's needs and this document provides a standard of indexing that will assist resource discovery.
