  Chinese Academy of Sciences - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (Simplified Chinese: 中国科学院; pinyin: Zhōngguó Kēxuéyuàn), formerly known as Academia Sinica (not to be confused with Taiwan's Academia Sinica currently headquartered in Taipei which shares the same root), is the national academy for the natural sciences of the People's Republic of China.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) currently has five sections (Mathematics and Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Technology) as well as eleven branches at Shenyang, Changchun, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Kunming, Xi’an, Lanzhou and Xinjiang.
The president of the academy is Lu Yongxiang.

 Chinese Academy of Geological Science
Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (CAGS), the largest comprehensive and multidisciplinary institution of geological sciences in China, was founded in 1956 and reorganized in 1999.
Directly under the Ministry of Land and Resources, the academy has 3,010 staff members, of whom 2,073 are specialists in various fields, including 18 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 201 senior researchers, and 739 associate senior researchers.

In 1991 the Chinese government published its eighth five-year plan (1991—1995), which designated the automotive industry as a "pillar industry" that would drive the economy in the twenty-first century.
In mid-1999 representatives of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) visited the U.S. National Research Council (NRC) to explore the prospects for collaboration between the two institutions on a study of the future of the personal car in China.
The study was to suggest strategies for developing a Chinese national car, as described in China’s five-year plan for the automotive industry, and the role of such a car in the national transportation system.

The Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics, also known as the Southwest Institute, is the primary design laboratory for Chinese nuclear weapons, located in Mianyang (Sichuan).
