Most junipers are dense, with tree forms from columnar to pyramidal and narrow to broad; shrubs from compact to wide spreading; and ground covers from flat to mound-shaped.
Junipers are important evergreens for landscape use due to their tolerance of unfavorable soil conditions, their hardiness and great variation in size, habit, color and growth rate.
Regardless of the use of junipers in the landscape, consideration must be given to ultimate plant size in relation to the space available because certain cultivars are vigorous in rate of growth.

 Western Yugur Names of Trees
Only few Western Yugur names for decidious trees are of Turkic etymology; most are of Chinese origin, such as miozïfu or miozïfu terek, Chinese white poplar, wuthun terek, diversiform leaved poplar (from Chinese wútóng, Chinese parasol tree), üshu or üfu, Siberian elm (from Chinese yúshù), and sakoza, the Chinese pear-leaved crabapple (from Chinese shaguozi).
This runs parallel to the Chinese word shù, tree (or fu in some Northwest Mandarin dialects) as in yúshù, elm(-tree), songshù, pine(-tree), and baishù, juniper(-tree).
The Western Yugur tree name ahrça or ahrça terek refers to the juniper, which is burnt as an incense in religious ceremonies.
