In the Qin Dynasty (221 - 207 B.C.) the concept of 'Dimai' (the arteries and veins of the earth), were studied by the ancient geographers.
Perhaps this was because the Qin's Dynasty tended to expand eastward towards the coast, and the location of their kingdom was in the west of China, hence they buried their dead pointing to the west in respect for their ancestral homeland.
