John Foster "Chip" Berlet (born November 22, 1949) is an American researcher specializing in the study of right-wing movements in the United States, particularly the religious right, white supremacists, homophobic groups, and paramilitary organizations.
Berlet, as a paralegal investigator, was a former vice-president of the National Lawyers Guild, a liberal bar association.
Berlet argues that the U.S. is currently undergoing a right-wing backlash that is the most sustained of its kind in U.S. history.

This opinion of mine is based on statements from John Rees {formerly of Western Goals and a person with extensive computer files on the left), Chip Berlet of PRA (formerly a BBS operator, with extensive files on the right), and testimony from Mira Boland of the ADL (extensive files on everyone).
I've known Chip Berlet for years and he was once an active participant in [pnews-l:http://pnews.org/signup.shtml] and it is really worthwhile to read "The Right Woos the Left," which is pretty much a classic about conspiracy theories.

Berlet’s argument would need a second premise to connect his first premise--the Pentagon is much bigger than a 757--to his conclusion--which is that a 757 would not cause much destruction to the particular section of the Pentagon that it hit.

The report also indicates that for a work week of 32 hours, Political Research Associates Senior Analyst John Berlet was paid $37,806 for the year, plus benefits worth $8,922.
If I recall correctly, when Chip appeared on this list or the Pacifica Radio’s community email discussion list -- newpacifica list -- in 2002 he failed to disclose the fact that PRA was receiving funds from the Ford Foundation.
