Chittagong College is the topmost college in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
Having started out as Chittagong District school in 1836, it was upgraded to an Intermediate college in 1869.It started providing science education in intermediate section from the year 1909 and became a graduation college in 1910.Now this college is giving honors and masters degree in 16 subjects.it is also continuing its intermediate course as well.
Chittagong college was first established as Chittagong Zila School in 1836.

hittagong College, standing on the slope of a hillock and its surrounding picturesque plain land in the southestern port city of Chittagong, virtually had been playing the pioneering role to the promotion and expansion of higher education in this part of the world since 1869.
Though it started its journey as a zilla (district) school in 1836, it was upgraded into a second grade college teaching upto F. standard (higher secondary) and then into a first grade college teaching upto Degree Classes in 1910.
In 1926, the college was baptised into an Alma mater for both male and female students by admitting 03 female students for the first time.

The Chittagong mayor, ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, told New Age that it would not be possible to turn Chittagong into the commercial capital without developing its infrastructure.
Non-government colleges in the capital have announced the schedule of the admission procedure for the higher secondary courses, and public colleges are expected to start it within two or three days.
According the education ministry’s decision, both the government and non-government colleges will have to enrol the students in the higher secondary courses as per their results in the SSC examinations.
