In placing the following species in Capraita, we are following Bechyné (11), who first separated the species of Oedionychus Series B (52) from the true Oedionychus (apterous Mediterranean forms).
At the time of this split (1955), these North American species were placed in Chloephaga Weise, which name has been proven to be a junior generic homonym.
The new name, Capraita Bechyné (12) replaced Chloephaga Weise.
