Either way, they make up the entirety of the genus Chlorocebus.

The natural habitats of Vervets (Chlorocebus aethiops), which are also known as the African green monkey, is the African savanna, ranging from the southern Cape to Sudan and Senegal.
Vervets prefer to live along wooded riverbanks, although the species is highly adaptable and can live in a variety of habitats.
