	Chokai, Akita - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Chōkai (鳥海町; -machi) is a town located in Yuri District, Akita, Japan.
		As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 6,359 and a density of 19.72 persons per km².
		The town is named for the nearby Mt. Chokai which is on the boundary of Akita prefecture and Yamagata prefecture on the shore of The Sea of Japan.

		The decision to use www.chokai.org as the DNS name for this site was made because the Imperial Japanese Navy Heavy Cruiser Chokai is one of my favorite warships from World War II.
		Rather than choosing a typical name espousing how I was the greatest Quake player on the planet and was about to kick your ass I decided to choose the name of a famous warship and chose Chokai.
		The ship and her crew served the Imperial Japanese navy with distinction until October of 1944 when the Chokai was sunk during the Battle for Leyte Gulf by US aircraft.
