The Songin Monument was built in 1641 in commendation of Jong Mong Ju for his "loyalty" and Kuksa Monument was erected in memory of the horse driver who died together with Jong Mong Ju.
Chong, Mong-Chu was born in 1337, at the time when the Koryo dynasty ruled the Korean peninsula.
Chong was revered throughout Koryo, even by Yi himself, but he was seen to be an obstacle and as such had to be removed.
