Guardian Unlimited Special reports Ehud Manor
Formerly, songs related to the land and the people, war and heroism; Manor's innovation was to write about individual pain, love or joy, without reference to the national saga.
Set to a Chopin-like melody by his longtime collaborator Matti Caspi, the song achieves an almost religious invocation of love, underscored by the title, with its strong biblical overtones.
Manor's desire to be a popular writer was well expressed in the Eurovision song Abanibi, which, despite its success, upset some of his devotees.

dOc DVD Review: Chopin: Desire for Love (Chopin: Pragnienie milosci) (2002) - Printable
Irritated by being called to perform like a trained monkey by the Grand Duke, in the wake of oppression Chopin flees to Paris.
In 1830, Chopin (Piotr Adamczyk) is in Warsaw, in a Poland occupied by Russia.
This Polish biopic takes a look at their doomed romance and in so doing gets a great many things right but makes some conjectures that I don't think are quite supportable.

All Eyes on the Snow Globe
Her new book, ''The Throne of Labdacus,'' is a long meditation on ancient Greece and the Oedipus myth; in her earlier work, collected in ''Supernatural Love,'' she is drawn to Chopin's Paris and colonial New England.
Lowellian, too, is her desire to treat history as something more than a stage setting, to make it the medium of thought and feeling.
If one feels that ''The Throne of Labdacus'' is not yet that perfect balance, it is only because even more satisfying and impressive poems will surely follow it.

should i start the fantasie impromptu?
I'd like to add that this lust that many young pianists have to conquer hard pieces is kind of alien to me. Alongside fantasy impromptu I have very strong desire to learn some simple pieces such as chopin's waltzes, bach inventions, and so forth.
You play the piano because you love it, not so that you can compare yourself to prodigies/people with insane amounts of raw ability.
It will take you much longer to get Fantasie Impromptu at performance standard.
