With a remarkable regularity, this bastard reasoning has been assimilated either to a legitimate and legitimating discourse concerning "space" or "place," or to the rhetoric of a certain Platonic modesty that requires the differentiation of a rigorous deductive presentation of the truth from a certain speculative, mythological, or oneiric transgression of "legitimate" discourse.
In Chorology, Sallis continues his careful reading of Plato's dialogues, bringing to bear on the Timaeus many of the questions and problematics he has pursued at the very forefront of contemporary philosophy over the intervening years.
Chorology consists of five chapters, four of which comprise a close commentary on the majority of the Timaeus.

In Chorology John Sallis takes up one of the most enigmatic discourses in the history of philosophy.
Plato's discourse on the 1/2chora -- the chorology -- forms the pivotal moment in the Timaeus.
The implications of the chorology are momentous and communicate with many of the most decisive issues in contemporary philosophical discussions.
[[1]] Chorology can thus promise its readers not only a careful, rigorous, and scholarly interpretation of the Timaeus, which strives to do justice to the integrity of Plato's text and not merely to a particular abstraction from the text (e.g., Plato's "cosmology" or
The relationship between the chorology and metaphysics brings to the fore one of Sallis' preoccupations in this book--Heidegger's interpretation of the history of metaphysics.
What does the chorology signify for Socrates' desire to move from the paradigmatic representation of the
Plato's discourse on the chora - the chorology - forms the pivotal moment in the Timaeus.
One of the most decisive results of Sallis's chorology is to show that the basic distinction between the intelligible and the sensible is, through the invocation of the chora, both founded and, at the same time, displaced.
Insofar as this distinction defines the very scope of Western metaphysics, the implications of the chorology are momentous and resonate with many of the most decisive issues in contemporary philosophical discussions.
Investigations have concentrated on taxonomy, chorology and ecology of Nordic lignicolous ascomycetes (incl.
In plants the main interests are the flora and chorology of North Norwegian vascular plants.
Several articles on fungi and plants, of which some are popularized, have been published in Norwegian in the periodical "Polarflokken", Tromsø Museum.

KLEINPELL'S BIOSTRATIGRAPHIC ANALYSIS OF CALIFORNIA'S MIOCENE STRATA: HIS ALTERNATIVE TO LAYER CAKE STRATIGRAPHY(Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
As studies of strata using fossil foraminiferan associations proceeded, Kleinpell and his associates became aware that chorology, the biogeographic and ecologic patterns in distributions of organisms, constrained these units.
These constraints are: 1) biogeographic provinces; 2) relative depth of the sea floor upon which the foraminiferans lived; and 3) habitats in which foraminiferans live.
Over time, chorology became an integral element in assessment of fossil foraminiferan associations by Kleinpell and his colleagues.
Abstract: This study is a synthesis of the existing data overall chorology of the species Carex curvula at a European level, with emphasis of its location in the Carpathian Mountains.
As an endemic European species, Carex curvula has a limited distribution – the alpine belt of the main mountains of the European alpine system: Alps, Pyrenees, French Central Massif, Carpathians and a part of the highest mountains in the Balkans.
Some older reports from Suhard, Călimani and Ciucaş Mountains are considered non-valid for the Carpathian chorology of this species.

This is the oldest practice of Western geography; Greek geographers sought to describe the parts of the earth.

The few mycologists who have worked (and those who are still working) in Bulgaria have studied mainly the species composition and chorology of the macromycetes in various regions of the country.
Data on the species composition and chorology of the macromycetes in various regions of Bulgaria can also be found in the publications of other Bulgarian and foreign mycologists: Kreisel (1962), Stoychev (1979), Kuthan and Kotlaba (1981, 1988), Vanev and Reid (1986), Dorfelt (1987), Gyosheva (1991a), Gyosheva and Drumeva (1991), Drumeva et al.
The macromycetes materials collected by the younger generation of mycologists (Hinkova, Drumeva, Fakirova, Stoychev, Gyosheva) are housed in the mycological herbaria of the Institute of Botany in Sofia and in the Higher Agrarian Institute in Plovdiv.

CHOROLOGY, PERMANENT PLOTS, AND TESTING THE VALIDITY OF PHYTOGEOGRAPHIC DOMAINS
Among many other applications, a careful chorological study of the Malagasy flora would make it possible to test the validity of several widely accepted ideas regarding "phytogeographic" zones in Madagascar.
Carefully collected, geo-referenced plant specimens that have been accurately identified provide the only type of reliable data for use in such a chorological study.

Frederich Ratzel coordinated a systematic approach of geography as a science with a complete human and environment relationship to explain the distribution of culture and adaptability of human nature and the synergy between human environment condition.
Ritzer explained this as “dualism” of chorology and ecology as earth and man — recognition from the European geographers.
But in elsewhere, William Morris Davis, the architect of geography program within geology ruled out the chorological identity of geography.

There remains a fourth problem, which can hardly be regarded as seriously under discussion, so long as knowledge has advanced no further than the Natural History stage; the question, namely,
how all these facts comprised under Morphology, Physiology, and Chorology have come to be what they are; and the attempt to solve this problem leads us to the crown of Biological effort, Ætiology.
When it supplies answers to all the questions which fall under these four heads, the Zoology of Crayfish will have said its last word.
-as an outgrowth of chorology, von Richthofen felt geography should construct generalizations and formulate hypotheses about areal patterns and relationships
Geography belongs in the latter group; its unity is in its method."
