Choronzon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Choronzon is an entity, described by Edward Kelley as 'that mighty devil'.
Otherwise known as the Demon of Dispersion, Choronzon is described by Crowley as a temporary personification of the raving and inconsistent forces that occupy the Abyss.
Choronzon is deemed to be held in check by the power of the Goddess Babalon, inhabitant of Binah, the third Sephirah of the Tree of Life.

Demonic possession is the belief in a form of spiritual possession; specifically, one or more demons are said to enter a living or dead human or animal body or an object with the intention of using it for a purpose, normally evil but sometimes instead as a punishment or test.
In the contemporary Western occultist tradition (perhaps epitomized by the work of Aleister Crowley) a demon, such as Choronzon, the "Demon of the Abyss", is a useful metaphor for certain inner psychological processes, though some may also regard it as an objectively real phenomenon.

Tangerine Dream - Exit - NuEra Entertainment   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
Its first track, "Kiev Mission" (which the label misspelled on the album), opens with explosions, sirenlike wails, and then, against a stark sonic backdrop, a whispered plea (a female voice speaking Russian) to end the threat of a "limited" nuclear war, a genuine and much-discussed danger at the time.
Myself, I think this is the 2nd or 3rd weakest album from their years at Virgin reconrds (74-83).
The subject of the progamme was flight, and, for me, "Exit" was the album that helped my long love of TD music take flight. The pace in the tracks varies from fast highway-type stuff, as shown in "Network 23", to the hypnotically rhythmic "Remote Viewing".

Choronzon was first brought out from the underworld with "Emotional Hunger", a heavily Death-tinged three song affair that had its good points but barely hinted in -92 at what was to follow.
Choronzon isn't so diverse as this band, but its music is much more powerful and angry, mainly because of the great use of industrial background and elements of fl metal.

Akercocke : Choronzon - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Choronzon, the band's third full-length, scurries from highly melodic prog-classical moments to the most primitive, me-smash-'em death metal imaginable -- and everything in-between.
Akercocke is ambitious, to say the least, Choronzon nudging a few metallic boundaries into uncharted waters, despite a few questionable production choices (the full-on death metal blasts sound disappointingly thin, and the "brutal" vocals resemble a constipated gorilla), but consistently poking at the listener's cerebral cortex with its dizzying technicality.
Sure, you'll be intoxicated on the fumes generated by all that gear-shifting, but the swirling mélange of sights, sounds, and smells Akercocke kicks up is often entertaining and artistically credible, both at the same time.

Transcending the Mundane: Review of 'Choronzon' by Akercocke
It is an elegant and striking conclusion to an album that is as unpredictable as it is enjoyable.
Very often, bands blatantly misrepresent their music in their promo materials, but when Akercocke claims that “Choronzon is the sound of the dangerously intelligent face of modern occult-inspired metal,” they are pretty much hitting it on the head.
Choronzon is easily one of the best albums I’ve heard this year, and I would recommend it to any metal fan that appreciates intricate, heavy music.

Although the album's length is slightly less than 40 minutes, each of Exit's tracks is of high quality, and so I'll give it 5 stars.

The drum work on this album is ever more technical than on any other album, adding even more to the already chaotic guitar work.
There is actually a fair amount of symphonic string work used on the album, especially on “Becoming the Adversary.” The keyboards are done very tastefully, always adding to the music without taking anything away from the core instruments.

This may be good for some fans or whatever but i found it tiresome and sloppy, the album does not run smoothly from track to track and songs are constintly interrupted by odly placed ambient sounds and nile rip-off guitar/keyboard work.

The latest album from London's stylish fl metal posse hits just the right balance between painstaking craft and unadulterated fury.
Akercocke has little use for the leather, spikes and corpsepaint of their peers, and even less for extreme metal conformity, but the band's sharp suits, melodic invention and rock star decadence don't get in the way of its alleged commitment to Satan.

This album brings in a few new twists to the Choronzon repertoire of ``ways to freak you out of your fucking mind.'' Here, there are several layers to the electronic segments that outstrip the capabilities of every electronic section attempted by a fl metal band.
Dynamic switching between metal as the foundation and different electronic genres keeps this album fresh and unpredictable, even if there were fewer layers in the compositions.
