Chris Boucher - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chris Boucher (born 1943) is a British television writer, best known for his frequent contributions to two genres, science-fiction and crime dramas.
Boucher was commissioned for the programme by Robert Holmes, who would suggest that Boucher be appointed as script editor of new science fiction series Blake's 7.
Chris Boucher should not be confused with Chris Boucher, author of the novel Frank's War, or Chris Boucher the photographer and drummer.

Chris Boucher continues his run of Fourth Doctor and Leela stories with what seems like a rewrite of one of his previous TV stories.
In many ways this story could have taken place directly after The Face of Evil, which is a shame as Chris Boucher obviously thinks he is the one that should be handling Leela, with the flip-side being that he should be the one maturing her.

South Potomac Church : Chris Boucher
Chris spent much of his young life moving from place to place.
It was during this stage of life that Chris realized, "There must be more." Much like the prodigal son who squandered all his father's possessions, Chris was ready to come home to His heavenly Father led by his earthly dad.
On May 15, 2004, not only did Chris graduate with a head that was transformed by the Truth of God's Word, but God also melted a hard heart tainted by years of sin and put in its place a deepening Passion for God and Compassion for People.

Chris Boucher, writer of the magnificent adventure "The Robots of Death," debuts his novel writing talents in the BBC line with a sequel to that very televised story.
Boucher returns the Doctor and Leela to the planet of the sandminers a few adventures, yet a decade after, their first meeting with the evil Taren Capel.
Interestingly, Chris Boucher expands on the civilization that he presented in "Robots of Death." The corporate and class intrigue between the planet's 20 elite families and the others that are trying to get into their circle of power is one of the major sub-plots of this novel.

Chris Boucher's Last Man Running was lucky enough to receive buzz, simply because it was a novel by Chris Boucher, who, after a trio of decent scripts and the creation of Leela, had not written for Doctor Who in 20 years.
The identity of their adversary is thus compromised - Boucher throws in a red herring before revealing a final twist, but the unmasking is not the denouement it's supposed to be, for the main fact that the characters in question are just as boring as they were before.
Boucher also takes concepts from several of his Blake's 7 stories: the weapons development programme echoes, appropriately enough, "Weapon"; the duel between Bardlenor and Gex, peripheral and incidental to the plot, is reminiscent of "Death-Watch".

Chris Boucher and I have had a strange relationship regarding his work for the BBC.
Boucher writes for this Doctor superbly, allowing us inside his head constantly and proving that this can be an enjoyable experiment especially when he is as zany and funny as he is here.
It is the first of Boucher’s books that feels as though it should be longer, not only to give a more thoughtful conclusion to events but because the behind the scenes dynamics of the story demand further exploration.

This is something which Boucher has obviously drawn out from the original serial, as Acheson's robot design had Asian features and the decor of the Sandminer had elements of the traditional Japanese home (screen prints for doors).
Chris Boucher almost seems to be complicit in presenting his work as every bit formulaic as that of Terry Nation and Terrance Dicks.
