Come (US band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Come was an American indie rock band, formed in 1990 in Boston by Thalia Zedek (vocal, guitar), Chris Brokaw (guitar, vocal), Arthur Johnson (drums), and Sean O'Brien (bass).
Come came into being after a mutual acquaintance invited Brokaw, O'Brien, and Johnson to play with him; after one show the three decided to split off into their own project, inviting Zedek to join them.
Brokaw was playing drums with Codeine, and he and Zedek had been talking about playing together.

Chris Brokaw: Incredible Love - PopMatters Music Review
Brokaw sounds like he collected some songs that were pretty damn good, threw in a well-chosen, impeccably rendered cover (Suicide's "I Remember") and ended up with a record that can be pleasant to hear while making dinner or one you can study closely while relaxing after the meal is over.
Brokaw's influences obviously stem far beyond the present-day seeming old timers such as Sonic Youth and Pavement.
Chris Brokaw may be known as the guitar guy in some great bands, but now he should be heralded for what he has accomplished primarily by himself.

Chris Brokaw has played with a lot of the American underground elite and shows that he can play the tuneful card just as well as he can play the abstract one.
Brokaw's conversational lyrics ("Steven turned to me and he said 'fuck!'") are a fine match for his own crispy guitar playing.
Brokaw's slightly raspy vocals are a good fit for his instrumentation, and even his brief "lai dai dai" bridge flows smoothly back into the initial relative hush.

Chris: Half the record has Tara Jane O'Neil and Kevin Coultas on bass and drums, both of whom used to be in a band called Rodan, from Louisville, Kentucky, and Tara and Kevin both play in a band called Senora Pine [sp?] now, so they are both busy with different things.
Chris: A lot of the songs we wrote, I think, particularly on the last one, "Don't Ask Don't Tell," were songs that the four of us had put together, and so for one thing there is more a tendency to have longer instrumental parts on the last one.

 new noise
Brokaw first cropped up in New York slow-core luminaries Codeine –; a band so slow that glaciers can cross continents before a song reaches its chorus and narcoleptics could fall into slumbers between beats, yet still wake up in time for the next stroke of the drums.
And as Brokaw was the man supplying that beat, you have to wonder if maybe the sloth isn’t the only creature that lives out its life at a fraction of the speed of the rest of us.
OK, so it’s not like Brokaw gone and torn his larynx out screaming like a good ‘un or ripped the volume knobs off his guitar trying to turn it up further than it was designed to be played, but compared to what has come before, this still feels like something of a departure.

BBC - collective - chris brokaw 'incredible love'
A member of Come, Pullman and Evan Dando’s touring band, svelte Bostonian guitarist Brokaw’s fleeting solo career has thus far been restricted to austere instrumental reveries.
Dividing the songs between atmospheric rockers and mid-tempo, acoustic-led detours, Incredible Love finally unveils his sandpapery voice, marrying it convincingly with the crisp combo arrangements.
It’s still his spidery lead lines that impress most, but when a winning vocal melody is demanded — as on the title track (a brisk cover of the Suicide classic) - he handles it with the swagger of a veteran frontman.

If you've seen Brokaw live, you know how much staid energy can come from one man. Armed with his guitar and a lone tapping tambourine, these recordings echo those performances in both their simplicity and in their power.
Brokaw's vocals come just as easily as the slide on his guitar, and soon enough, the listener is drawn into the kitchen, where he's found a place to play and a few sympathetic ears.
Like Van Zandt, Brokaw already has a wide swath of experience from which to draw pointed observations and gruff realities.
