  Chris Connelly: Biography
Initially instigated by the overwhelming requests of fans and listeners in 1996, Chris decided to plunge into the task of arranging and dissecting some of his catalogue of work; which was then, by the auspices of KB Publishing, awarded to those demands in its 112-page glory.
Connelly’s latest forthcoming solo exercise; a set of 8 new studio recordings which promises to deliver all of the grace, integrity and quality he is so apt to deliver to his listeners.
Above all, Chris Connelly is one of the few independent artists today who still believes in the power of songwriting as nothing short of divine narrative; the craft of music as the perfect vehicle for poetic expression.

  Ned's Nineties: 110
At the time, Chris Connelly was just seen as the tall screaming Scot in various line-ups of Ministry, the Revolting Cocks, at one point Fini Tribe, and various other things.
Connelly's voice rages over the whole thing, and while it's all very abstract, the mood hits you right.
Stated nowhere on the sleeve beyond a general dedication -- understandably -- is the fact that Connelly's fiance killed herself during the recording of the album; Connelly has since confirmed this track is about her.

Choler Magazine Interview: Chris Connelly   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
The best compliment I can give Chris Connelly is that if I had met him at a cocktail party, I'd have gone home sober: he's such an engaging conversationalist that I'd never have gotten around to refilling my glass.
The album found Connelly at his most theatrical -- a far cry from his pranky days with Ministry and Revolting Cocks -- and in the intimate telephone setting he retains that theatricality, punctuating his sentences with emphasized words and thoughtful pauses that make you think he's actually blocking scenery in his head as he talks.
Chris Connelly, I've discovered, defines to me what being an artist is all about: he doesn't make obscene amounts of money and you won't find videos of his tunes on Total Request Live, but his lifelong devotion to his craft has afforded him a living wherein he pursues his muse as he deems fit.

Scottish-born Connelly came to America specifically at the request of Al and Paul to front the Revolting Cocks and he stayed with them from 1987 until 1993 (leaving a most entertaining version of Rob Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" in his wake).
Chris: To this day there are still songs from that album that I play live--songs like "July" and "Heartburn"--that mean a lot to me. They're very personal songs and they always will be.
Chris: It's changed a lot for me. You've got to understand that until 1992-93, I was involved with Ministry, I was involved with Pigface--things like that--and a lot of these things were no-brainers.

 Splendid: Features: Chris Connelly
Chris Connelly: Well, it started off as a writing exercise for me and Bill, with nothing in particular in mind, and it was (as I mentioned earlier) such a secluded "operation" that I think that we have cut down a few screens and given people a very honest look at our twisted little minds.
Chris Connelly: I think my favourite tour(s) may have been the ones I did early on, when I was in my early 20's, just because that time of life is such a "voyage of personal discovery" and you're out to try and have a good time.
Chris Connelly: As discussed above, the other things I am listening to right now are Kid A, The Conet Project, which is a 4 CD set of recordings of shortwave radio numbers stations, and also the Throbbing Gristle Live Box set, which is great music to work out to.

His arc of evolving talent is quite well known to the initiated: constantly shifting gears and mutating from the earliest of days in Rigor Mortis (later to become Fini Tribe) to the infamous Revolting Cocks, or side projects like Acid Horse (with members of Caberet Voltaire) and the one-off release The Love Interest.
In retrospect, this change would prove to be a blessing in disguise, allowing for Connelly to exhibit deeper lyricism as well as a far wider range of vocal skill more true to his own style rather than that of the atypical distortion blistered screams of metallic mechanical rage.
Connelly's 1992 followup, Phenobarb Bambalam, was a more extreme record; polarizing his songwriting between the excesses of angry post-rock and the melancholia of smoke-filled lounge balladeers, both exercised (and exorcised) with ingenious clarity.

This exuberant new album by a critically acclaimed song writer, the aforementioned Connelly, possesses the warmth, serenity, imagination and sense of insight that we all strive for in dealing with everyday life whether it is in a state of upheaval, mediocrity or bliss.
The process of the slow and mobile recording of this album was an intentional effort by Chris Connelly to gradually expound upon songs and ideas related to how they should be played, and to never put the music on a pedestal as an intense and exasperating effort.
With several introspective solo releases under his belt, Chris Connelly has turned away from his industrial machinations as the former singer for Ministry and the Revolting Cocks, and has naturally progressed into the world of melodica and experimentation in a much more subtle sense.

Chris Connelly's latest recording, Blonde Exodus, serves as a nice sampler of everything that was on the Bowie buffet during his creative peak.
Hardly a predictable development in the career of Connelly, who initially made his mark on the scene working industrially with Al Jourgensen on Ministry and Revolting Cocks records.
Chris Connelly's Blonde Exodus is one of those rare records that exists equally comfortably as sounds on a speaker and words on a page; that he acquits himself as a singer of considerable passion as well only adds to the pleasure of listening.
