Chris has been one of my very favorite singers for a while now, from the first time I heard him, it was like his sound was exactly what I'd been searching for but never able to find.
I don't think I know of another artist who is so obviously down to earth and as sincere as Chris LeDoux, and that comes across so clearly in his songs.
And in regard to the Garth Brooks comment, Garth was only about 14 when Chris won the world championship (a long time after he started singing), and Garth Brooks will tell anyone that it was Chris who taught him his stage act.
