		The Chris Perez band, formed in Corpus Christi, has built a sound that distinctly reflects South Texas culture, part rock and part Latin, forged in Tejano, reflecting influences as far flung as psychedelic British pop, classic blues and jazz, and flamenco traditions.
		Perez and his band members were writing songs without regard to fitting into marketing niches, less concerned with courting either a Spanish-speaking or English-speaking audience than writing songs that moved them, Randle said.
