Chris: Well, like a couple of weeks after they moved down and joined, the dick Kam took off, and they couldn't find another drummer, so Scott and Matt had to go back to Michigan, things looked pretty bad.
Chris: The usual problem, lack of money, it would have cost major bucks, we should be touring NY soon, though after the LP is out.

The overall feel of this album, when combined with the artwork is that it may actually be an old demo more than an album.
Chris Reifert handles some of the vocals but it's mostly Matti on the stick.
I would say that it is probably a bit more gore influenced than either of those bands ever was, probably due to Chris Reifert being around, but overall the sound is that dirty old Stockholm sound.

After a partnership with Death, he formed Autopsy for the sake of recording "death metal" in the late 1980s, and has moved on from Autopsy to Abscess, a grind/punk/metal project, as well as several other bands in the quest for loud and grindingly horrific music.

Well, yeah, this stuff is pretty oogy, no question, but when shock is so obviously the intended effect, one eventually wants not to be shocked just out of spite.
But after a few songs, the shock value wears off, and it becomes clear that Coralles and Bower are fairly limited musicians, and that Reifert's maniacal pounding is the only thing musically interesting on the whole album.
Abscess would up the musicianship considerably on their next few releases, but Urine Junkies is strictly for fans.

Shortly after offering his limbs toward the recording of Death's _Scream Bloody Gore_, Chris Reifert went on to form one of the key groups in the development of modern death metal.
Disc one opens with rehearsal footage circa 1988, consisting of Reifert and guitarist Eric Cutler jamming at the home of then-bassist Ken Sorvari, his towheaded children peaking in and out of frame.
The sound is impeccable, keeping Reifert's scratched vocals relatively intact as he and Cutler churn through blood-flecked composition, including "Ridden with Disease", "Embalmed" and even some old Trouble songs.

Bio: Over the course of more than a decade and seven increasingly accomplished albums, Chuck Schuldiner, the architect behind the ubiquitous Death, became a bona fide heavy metal icon.
Their hard work and perseverance finally paid off when a three-song demo tape called Mutilation began drawing rave reviews in the metal underground, soon convincing Bay Area-based thrash specialists Combat Records to sign the group.
Leaving his bandmates behind (they would form a band called Massacre in his absence), Schuldiner relocated to San Francisco and teamed up with drummer Chris Reifert (later of Autopsy infamy) to record Death's now legendary Scream Bloody Gore LP.
