With an official announcement in the offing, RollerCoaster Tycoon designer Chris Sawyer has spoken out about his latest project, which is said to be very much in line with what he was doing on Transport Tycoon.
In an interview last week, Sawyer reveals that he's wanted to revisit Transport Tycoon ever since the original was finished, and only the significance of the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise waylaid his work.
Locomotion will apparently stick to being half-construction, half-world watching, and Sawyer says that his goal is "to ensure that the construction process is inspiring and the world-watching process is fun and rewarding." The game will use an isometric camera to help frame as much of the action as possible.

That guy, Chris Sawyer, is now suing Atari for screwing him out of his due royalties.
A UK paper reports that Sawyer should have scored around $30 million for the games, the first two of which were developed solely by him, with a few others creating sounds and graphics for him.
I interviewed Sawyer ages ago, and I thought it was remarkable how intense he was about making a game that doesn't suck, and is just outright fun.

Sawyer claims that Atari acted in breach of contract by refusing to give auditors full access to accounts between 1999-2001.
Following a desktop review and analysis carried out by his own auditors, Sawyer claims that Atari Interactive owes him USD 4.8 million in omitted and miscalculated payments.

Surely though if Atari loses the series, another company would be more than happy to pay Chris Sawyer the money he wants/deserves and picks up the series.
Chris has been paid 30 million in Royalties to date, Atari still at this point owes him 4.8 million more.
Personally I hope Chris gets what is rightfully due to him, even if it is a lot of money.

When Chris Sawyer transformed the construction simulation genre with the introduction of the fabulously successful RollerCoaster Tycoon, the gaming world was absolutely stunned, and imitators sprung up like weeds as a result.
However, few remembered that prior to this blockbuster he developed Transport Tycoon (published by Microprose), in which you built a variety of transportation networks linking cities and industries together.
So as soon as he had spare time on his hands, this talented designer returned to his original love, updating and spiffing it up in a manner that resulted in the recent release ten years later of Chris Sawyer's Locomotion (published by Atari).

I could proabley forgive chris for not updating the graphics in the last ten years if the game play was greatly improved but I personally think it has gotten worse.
